Hong Kong is a former British Colony that is located in southeastern China. I noticed that the locals I came into contact with during my trip spoke (mostly) English, but with a British accent. Very cool for an Asian country!
During my week in Hong Kong, I stayed at an AirBnB on Hong Kong Island in the Sai Wan district (walking distance to the Sai Ying Pun MTR station). I visited some local markets, did some street shopping, went to the Jade Market, wandered through the Nan Lian Gardens, saw the breathtaking Hong Kong skyline from Victoria Peak, explored Lantau Island, and enjoyed a sunset boat cruise around Victoria Harbour on the Aqua Luna junk boat tour.
While Hong Kong is a big city, it still has so much culture to offer and is truly one of the most unique big cities that I have visited. There are so many day trips that this area has to offer, and each feels like you have been transported to a completely different place. The public transportation is also very easy to navigate & the options offered are endless – you can travel around by train, subway, bus, boat, ropeway, tram, taxi, bike, or simply walk around and take it all in.
