Mt. Myojogatake is located in the Hakone mountains of Japan, and has an elevation of 924 meters. The trail we took for our hike was a little more difficult to locate in the beginning due to the lack of signs posted, and the lack of other hikers nearby. However, we enjoyed having the majority of the hiking trail to ourselves – it was very calming to hear no other sounds but the birds chirping overhead. The hiking trail involved a lot of climbing, exposed tree roots, and oversized rocks along the path – so watch your step!
After our day-long hike, we walked towards Miyanoshita train station where the cutest hot springs foot bath is available alongside delicious pizza. Onsen’s are always a good idea – but it felt that much better after a day of hiking. I highly recommend checking this place out if you are in the area.
To get to Mt. Myojogatake we took a Romance Car on the Odakyu line to Hakone-Yumoto station, and then transferred to the bus which dropped us off right past Miyanoshita train station. Don’t forget to get a hiking map that’s available at the information office located directly across from Hakone-Yumoto station (near the bus stop) – maps are available in English as well.
